Archery Shooting Distance

This isn't darts; you have to be accurate at 70 meters, the distance between the shooting line and the target. Traveling at about 150 miles an hour, the arrow takes a fraction of a second to hit the target, compared to the several seconds that a booming football punt takes to travel that far. The ground in between is grassy in order to spare the arrowheads if they miss the target. The entire competition area is called a range; the individual firing zone is a lane. Wisely, the spectator seating in any archery arena does not include a grandstand behind the targets.
